A native New Yorker now bumming around as a Southern Urbanite (uh, yeah there really
is such a thing now) -- this girl was
always into something fun and artistic!
I started designing web pages, no let me rephrase that - I began
learning HTML in 1996 and began experimenting with graphics in 1995. I started out designing
in-house flyers, brochures and promotional media for a national non-profit
agency I was working for at the time. A lot of what I created graphically was desktop publishing
items such as newsletter, etc. with CorelDraw and Pagemaker.
I began creating decent web graphics in 1996 after my conversion from CorelDraw to
Adobe Photoshop and my amateurish flight from print media to my all out obsession for
electronic media. When I started authoring my own web sites, I knew I wanted to create
my own graphics. At the time the public domain
clipart just wasn't cutting it, not to mention that fact that it was saturated all over
the net. I aspired to design the graphics around the theme/subject of the web site.
I spend many hours on-line and taught myself "everything" about web graphics. A few good on-line tutorials
here and there and my main resource "Inside Photoshop" I was starting to achieve the results
I wanted. I still do the tutorial thing of course, as well as professional workshops because, hey
we
all know how quickly authoring techniques change on the web! I enjoy that the fact that I always have more to learn
and a lot of room for growth in this industry.
I now work as a freelance/for-hire Graphic Designer.
Obviously, I have chosen to focus my efforts only
on web media. I have started my own venture in designing unique web graphics and web site concepts via
307designs.com.
